SSS ECL on , Fuel System too lean

  • My SSS recently engine check light on, went to check error, the device show "Fuel system too lean" or something like that.

If reset the code/light, it will come back again after a few trips.

Car runs fine maybe a little lack of power than before.

Does anyone know whats the problem or encounter before?

  • Lean = Too much air, or too little fuel.

Check your injectors, fuel pump, intake pipe, throttle body, all possible suspects.

Simpler way would be to eliminate the petrol issue first, like the bros mentioned here, maybe try pumping SG 98 fuel and see if it helps..

    Good luck!

  • ok guys, i tried one tank with sg shell v power, still same light still on. Before I was with sg esso all the while. Never pumped any jb petrol. so i guess petrol is out.

Went to some workshops, they said it might be the o2 sensor, and one sensor cost $350  :o  and SSS got two o2 sensors. like that $700 liao.  :o :o

They recommend me not to change and drive till scrap. left 1 year plus more. Only will have lost power plus lower fuel mileage.

Anyone know if the workshop is accurate? Or anywhere can get cheap o2 sensor? 2nd hand or scrap i don't mind as long it's working.

In fact so far my drive is ok although the lack of power is slightly bothering me and my fuel mileage somehow increased instead of what the workshop said that it will be lowered.

  • You can try looking in the scrap yards for used O2 sensor, but probably won't be that cheap either.

If you're going to scrap your car, i'll probably just leave it..

Yes a broken O2 sensor will give worst fuel economy.
