Engine of SX4
« on: August 13, 2012, 03:58:32 PM »
Hi all, I drive a 2007 SX4 HB. I've been thinking about a few things, like whether the car is front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Also, recently, there's been an eek-eek sound coming from the middle of my console, at the air con knob area. It gets a little anooying after some time. I'm wondering if it's caused by some parts of my audio player as it's now lop-sided due to the mounting bracket not fastened properly.

I recently visited the Road Race MotorSports website. Abit poisoned by the performance upgrades.  :D

From my understanding so far is SX4 is also equipped with a M16 engine. But they actually de-tune this engine.
Modification=Time+Money

Mine had this eek eek sound from behind aircon knobs/HU since day 1. Tolerated for 4 1/2 yrs. Only solved last month after CM removed the whole dashboard to change aircon coil. This irritating sound disappeared after reinstalling dashboard. ;D . U might wanna consider this dashboard R&R option.

Wow. Thanks! Do you know the approximate price of doing it?

I did it with aircon coil replacement. CM charged me abt $800+ in total. U might wanna ask CM for a quote on dashboard R&R only.

SX4 is a FF car, with a low compression M16 Engine. It's not a detuned engine.
A performance car is one with High CR except those on TC/SC.

Some sound may be due to thermo expansion, which may be common nowadays...but good to have it check as it may be pain in the neck sometimes...
A good tuning car must be something that you can take out to the streets.  The car must be fun, fast and safe on all kinds of road conditions.
